Natural Therapies
Despite very little evidence to support the claims made by the proponents of natural therapies these alternatives to standard medical practices are extremely popular. This may come as quite a surprise considering that we live in the age of information where knowledge can be gleaned simply though the click of a button. However, what one must bear in mind is that information from either side of an argument is easily available online when there are two contradicting view points, so there will be just as much online information in support of natural therapies as there is against them.
Whether or not natural remedies and alternative medicine actually work it’s quite certain that there is a market for them, a highly lucrative market. Interest in natural therapies has increased somewhat in recent years, which may be partly due to greater focus placed upon maintaining a healthy lifestyle that has arguably become part of the zeitgeist of the current era. Whether you look, whether it is in advertising, printed media, or television programming, you may find yourself constantly reminded of the benefits of natural products and practices. Sales of organic food have skyrocketed and organisations are incredibly keen to portray themselves as being ‘green’ and ‘eco friendly’.
So, taking this into consideration it is hardly surprising that there is an increased level of natural medicines and therapies. Of course there are many sceptics who level criticism at these alternatives to standard medicines, but arguably they can be regarded in a positive light even if they may only have a placebo effect on the people who use them
